Legalities of Erecting a Wind Turbine Generator

Depending on where you live you may or may or not even be able to erect a wind turbine generator at all, or without a permit.  Generally I would say if you live in a remote or rural community your odds of being able to erect a wind turbine generator without a permit is good.  However if you live in a city you are most likely going to have to jump through hoops, get permits, or possibly forgo your ability to own and manage a wind turbine generator on your property.  Call local authorities before erecting large wind turbines, especially if you are investing a great deal of time and/or money into this.  It isn't very fun to get finished pouring a concrete foundation for your wind turbine tower only to find out that your local authorities aren't going to let you put a turbine in your backyard.  Do some footwork and make sure you aren't going to have to take your turbines down later.  The BLM issues permits for erecting wind turbine generators on their land and now they've made the process faster for Western United States.
